Dear Sirs,

We are sorry to note from your letter of the 19th instant that you are experiencing starting troubles at extremely low temperatures on your 25/30 experimental cars, when using the 6-LZLD13-S battery.

We cannot quite understand why the 6-HZD-9-S battery should give distinctly better results, because as regards the starting effort there is very little difference between this type and the 6-LZLD13-S, and actually the latter type gives a slightly better performance.

It is possible that the 6-HZD-9-S battery has had more developing charges and recharges as compared with the 6-LZLD13-S. In addition to this there would be at extremely low temperatures a big difference in the performance of the batteries if they were not in approximately the same state of charge. If, for instance, one battery was very nearly fully charged and the other at say half discharge when the comparative tests were taken.

The information you require in connection with the various types of batteries which we supply to you are given on the attached schedule.

Yours faithfully,

PETO & RADFORD.

T.S. Chapman
