Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 1/T12.8.21. X.3937 - VIBRATION TEST OF STANDARD BATTERY. X3978 We caused a new battery* of the latest standard Exide batteries with separately supported positive and negative elements and other modifications recently itemised in connection with the standardisation sheet, to be put through a series of low rate charges and discharges whilst undergoing fairly drastic vibration treatment on our new vibration rig, and with Mr. Royce's copy of this report we are sending the record for his inspection. It will be seen that whilst this battery has been undergoing vibration, there have been several charges and discharges, the ampere hour capacities of which have been as tabulated below:- CHARGE. DISCHARGE. Hours. Ampere-hours. Hours. Ampere-hours. 1st. 9.75 68.2 9.2 50.8 2nd. 13.25 79.5 9.2 51.0 3rd. 14.75 88.5 9.25 51.7 4th. 17.25 86.5 9.3 52.2 5th. 11.5 69.0 Unfinished. - - Total hours of vibration = 87¼. * i.e. battery No.61 which, however, had been through our ordinary routine low and high rate discharge tests on the bench (see EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 4/T2.6.21). Contd. | ||
