| - 2 - for machining the bearings, and we have laid down also, from experience, a rule that we do not in future deliver any bearings that are not completely machined by us, as that enables us to make very useful examination for porosity etc. The position of the order book is that we have four order for A.E.C.; three orders for Dennis, one of these being for 100 pairs; one set for De Havilland; 24 pairs for E.R.A., four orders for Leylands, including one order for 3,000 bearings; five sample orders for Morris Commercial, one order already having been delivered; one order for Napiers; two for Perkins; one order for Ricardo; one for Scammells, and we have delivered five pairs to Albion. We have also delivered some bushes to Bristol, and it appears that apart from the setbacks already referred to the job is making progress. We are fairly well tooled up to handle the casting and the machining, and though we are sure to get the complaints over the delay that cannot be avoided, in view of what has happened, I feel sure that if you adopt the policy as laid down by Mr. Robotham of giving us 100% support when you are approached with regard to this matter, and even though you may get complaints on the questions of delay and so on, pointing out that one naturally expects teething troubles in a new job, we shall, Hitler permitting, handle this job satisfactorily to all concerned. I am, however, at your service if you like to come and see me. I would like to see you and show you that other special die of which I sent you a sample, and there is no doubt we might discuss other things as well, so that if you care to make an appointment next week I shall hold myself available.
