No.5.Test Bed.
Ph.III. No.3.
Complete the ignition advance tests as follows on Shell.
1. Running on single Inlet Ignition only.
(a) Non detonating line (power and advance)
(b) Max. power line (Power and advance)
(c) ½ load with spark advance identical to (a) taking (power, cons. and spark position).
From these spark positions, advance to give max. power (bringing the speed back to normal check) (power, cons and spark position)
2. With ignition control in fixed position check increase advance given by the auto suction advance at ½ load throughout speed range.
3. Running with both ignitions as std.
(a) Non detonating line (power and Advance)
(b) Max. power line (Power and advance)
(c) With the ignition set at standard [struck through] timing and ensuring governor springs are O.K. check the power and the advance curve, the hand control being fixed.
(d) ½ load with spark advance identical to (a) taking (power cons, and spark position).
From these spark positions, advance to give max. power (bringing the speed back to normal check (power cons, and spark position).
Whilst these curves are being taken check power and cons. at advance positions given by (c).
4. Repeat curves (d) but advancing the inlet ignition only.
When above are complete return unit to the shop and fit No.6. on bed.
B.9.Unit.
Engine to be returned to the shop for inspection.
