To Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} from EFC. X6793 EFC2/T3.5.27. LUCAS CONTACT POINTS. We have further considered Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}1/NJ2.5.27 and the letter from Messrs. Lucas attached thereto. Taking into the consideration the way their letter is framed, there would perhaps appear to be no middle course to adopt between doing nothing in the matter and complying with their suggested course which would "best serve our mutual interests". What we should like to say, however, i.e. if you think this can be said, is that we would still like to send them the three pairs of contact breaker levers and points to be fitted with their contacts, desiring to treat the matter as a pure experiment as to whether these contacts are suitable for running on our particular apparatus. We are well aware of the necessary careful correlation between the contact material and electrical design, and for that reason, should the results on these point on our ignition be unfavourable, we should not for one moment consider this to imply that these contact points cannot be right on their magnetos. But we should treat the experiment purely as to whether or not these contacts are suitable on our ignition. That is the experiment we wish to make, without making any inferences from it concerning any other application. We are quite pleased to leave the matter entirely to your discretion and are quite prepared to drop it if you consider that it should not be proceeded with. EFC. | ||
