C. to SQ. WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} re. BENSPORT.

We send herewith N. schs. 3475/76.- layouts of Bensport, using 10 ft. and 10' 4 ins. wheelbase respectively.

As a result of difficulties in design already discussed with E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} it has been agreed to work to sch. 3476., having 10 ft 4 ins. wheelbase, as this increased length overcomes the troubles.

In this connection we would mention that the new Alvis Speed Twenty, one of our most serious competitors, has a wheelbase of 10 ft. 3 ins.

This layout, in conjunction with the frame detail N. sch. 3477. will enable you to instruct the following sections, which are either identical with Peregrine, or sufficiently similar to call for no design from WW:

(1) Frame side members, and cross members 1.2.3.4.5. and 7., counting from the rear.

(2) Front springs, shackles, and brackets.

(3) Rear springs, shackles, and brackets.

(4) Battery and box.

(5) Steering column and box.

(6) Petrol tank and fittings.

(7) Rear axle, axle tubes, (brakes need further design).

(9) Front axle for 1st. car same as Peregrine.

Will you please send us the usual one print of each and return the original of N. sch. 3476. to EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}
