c. to BW. c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X.3426 EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/T4/F28.4.20. RE. FAULTY STARTER MECHANISM. X.3748. Further to our EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}1/F21.1.20, in view of the fact that we have had two starters actually fail in service after the cars have been delivered, I submit that we should consider taking action and carrying out the modification of drilling holes in the moving jaw clutch body and reducing the surface of the bush which controls the movement of this jaw when disengaged, on all cars delivered. If you agree to this, I should be glad if you will instruct the works to supply me with a quantity of these parts, say 40, so that I can arrange to send a number to the Depots and also arrange for men to be sent to carry out this modification on all cars in England. Attached hereto is a list showing the cars which, according to our records, require this modification carrying out. EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/T. | ||
