Report comparing the performance of Alklum and Ni-Fe motor car batteries.

We have spent some thousands of pounds during the last two years in tests, and as far as motor car batteries are condemned for the starting efforts, the "Alklum" and the "Ni-Fe" are considerably better than the ~~Edison~~. There is very little to choose between the "Alklum" and the "Ni-Fe". We are inclined to think that the "Alklum" is slightly better and its voltage variation is less. Although the voltage variation on prolonged charges is greater than on lead batteries, it is not sufficiently great to damage the lamps and I have run mine fully charging for hours on end in the day light with the side and tail lamps on and have not burnt out a bulb.

I am afraid this report is not very satisfactory, but I am perfectly sure in my experience of batteries and motor cars that Rolls-Royce Ltd. would not be satisfied with any existing nickel iron battery at the present time.

I am afraid this is rather disappointing, but I am a very candid critic as you know.

If you want to test a nickel iron battery at this stage in your laboratory we can easily get the "Alklum" people to send you one for test.
