INSTRUMENTS.

A representative (Captain G.A. Lingham (DEC.)) of the British Instrument Company Ltd., Hendon Aerodrome, London, N.W.9. has been directed to me by Colonel The Master of Sempill, with a view to introducing the instrument which they manufacture to our notice.

At present they are making a Distant Reading Thermometer and an Oil Gauge, which they claim is quite up to our exigent standard and is built to Air Ministry specifications and test. They have produced instruments of this type with dials and mountings generally similar in appearance to those we use at present and are very anxious that we should test them.

I understand that their prices will compare favourably with those of the Cambridge Scientific Instrument Company or Messrs. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Dewrance.

The instruments are very well finished as far as can be seen from an external examination and I have advised Captain Lingham to write you at Derby, offering to supply instruments for examination and test if desired.

You will doubtless be hearing from him in the course of a few days on this matter and unless you see any definite objections I should be glad if these instruments can be put through our usual test and report.

CWB.
