EFC2/T25.8.24.

This machine was used for the bench commutation and brush wear tests reported in our EFC3/T14.3.24, the conclusion arrived at in that report being that there was a definite improvement in commutation due to the use of this two coil per slot armature. Latterly this B machine has been loaned to the Test Dept. for comp-arison with noisy standard dynamos and their report has been as follows :-

"With reference to your EFC2/T15.8.24,
"we have now tried this dynamo on a number
"of different chassis and in each case it
"has been an improvement on the standard
"dynamo taken off. We should sawy that
"this dynamo, although not 100%, is an
"improvement on our present standard." (This means, as regards noise - EFC.)

Dynamo E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}

This machine was put on 6-GII after having been set in the first instance to the production test, and remained on at that setting for 4274 miles with entirely satisfactory results. At that mileage it was removed and its operation on the bench observed. This we found to be good and the output satisfactory. It was reset to our general specification, which results in a slightly higher output than the production test, and replaced on 6-GII, upon which chassis it has remained until it has done a total of 13,110 miles.

It has been examined to date and the condition of the brushes and the commutator has been found to be uniformly good, little wear having taken place. The actual
