X.2628 COPY. Sn.{Mr Sanderson} from BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C to ER BY2/P17.5.20. X.3664 RE: FRONT AND REAR SPRINGS. X.2628 RE WEIGHT OF SPRINGS TO BE FITTED TO AUSTRALIAN CHASSIS. I do not think that we should accept, without demur, a statement from anybody in charge of one of our Service Stations, that all springs for that particular country are to be fitted a certain percentage heavier. It certainly seems to me that any such decision should be arrived at carefully in the usual way by the people responsible for such matters at this end, namely, the Experimental Department. If Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, and EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}, agree, then I think we could come to some definite decision, but at the moment I certainly do not feel inclined to issue instructions dealing with all Australian chassis, without some conference being held to settle the question. If it is, of course, quite obvious that the suggestions should come from Service Stations in the country concerned, but as to whether the amount suggested is reasonable or not, it seems to me that that should be settled up either by R, or at the Works.
