My dear Johnson,

At last I am able to reply to your letter of a month ago, for I find that the N.F.C. people do not pay any royalty to Lanchester for their suspension system. As far as I can make out, the two things are radically different in the opinion of both firms, since the N.F.C. springs are of the quarter elliptic type and their patent is only for the combination of these with the radius-rods in such manner that if a spring breaks no great amount of harm will be done; whereas the Lanchester springs are half elliptic, the one portion of which is hidden inside the side members, while the other portion alone projects. With the Lanchester arrangement the full value of semi-elliptic springs is thus obtained.

Hoping this information may be in time to be of some use to you.

I am,
Yours sincerely,
Anthony G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} New
