Report on run before returning to England on conclusion of 15,000 miles test. On the 24.3.38 I took over this car in Paris and accompanied by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux}, made a tour over varying types of roads in France, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, and Belgium. Including the journey from Dover to Derby, the total mileage was 2,117. Petrol consumption 13.0 mpg. Oil " 1778 mpg. The run included such mountain climbing as was possible in Switzerland, 350 miles on German Auto Bahn and running on Belgian pavé. On the return journey we took the opportunity of driving flat out on a stretch of Auto bahn from Potsdam to Hanover. 134 miles were covered in 1 hr. 45 mins. an average of 76.5 m.p.h. The car is delightful to drive and taken generally the chassis is in very good condition for the total mileage run. With regard to the principal features my impressions are as follows: Suspension. This is very good for all classes of road on the Continent. A considerable part of the mileage being run with the ride control in the mid way position. Cont'd....... | ||
