Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} [Text redacted] 35-EX. PHANTOM III. K.L.G. 171 Sparking Plugs. These plugs were supplied and fitted at Derby and are of the new type with "corundite" (?) insulators. They have covered 9.000 miles since fitting and the gaps were found to be from .035" to .040" with one at .048". The gaps at 3.200 miles were :- .025" - .030". The points do not appear sufficently burnt to account for so large an increase in the gap, in fact they are in good condition. It is almost certainly due to the bent wire straightening out under the alternate effect of heating and cooling. They have been reset at .020" - .025" for further running in the engine. ------------ Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}/IMW.{Ivan M.
