To Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} X5520 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RmS/LG9.11.28. 20 HP. REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS. With reference to the complaint of knocking on the 20 HP. shock absorbers. The difficulty the Expl: Dept: have in investigating this trouble lies in the fact that these shock absorbers can only be heard on certain cars. They cannot be heard on test chassis or test cars, four of these which were complained of by customers have been tried on our experimental car and are inaudible. Since no customers car is available we have notdging to work on. Sales cannot lend us their 20 HP. car because it is going to the Scottish Show. Since however it has been proved that by selective assembly the Works can give us quiet shock absorbers for the 20 HP. car, it would appear that until Sales are able to supply us with a car having the necessary vice, this is the best method of tackling the complaint. We cannot believe that such shock absorbers will become noisy until they have done a large mileage. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
