Pt. FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} ORIGINAL RY C. to S. Wk. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /1. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M22.7.32. V2330. x55.. BORG & BECK CLUTCH ON 25HP. We have heard from Borg & Beck that they do not care for our proposal to shorten the central hub in their clutch, and accordingly we have made N. scheme 3510, which we enclose herewith, shewing how, by using a special narrow but standard Hoffman bearing, we can give them the length and clearances they ask for. We are aware that the bearing is probably not adequate for its job for any length of time, but suggest that it would do for the experiment. Borg & Beck say definitely that they would like cast iron surfaces, so we suggest that if possible a flywheel should be obtained in nickel cast iron. If there is any difficulty about this then we suggest that a cast iron pad can be inserted in the steel flywheel as shown on the drawing. EA. 15/- | ||
