P.11 VIBRATIONS AND BOOMS.

We should like to arrange a demonstration at Bignall's corner for 11 a.m. on Friday morning if this would be suitable to you.

On 58-GN. we have carried out an alternative scheme suggested by R.{Sir Henry Royce} to the Diamond mounting. That is, we retain the front engine feet dispense with the rear ones entirely, the rear end of the engine then being held up from the trunnion at the back of the gearbox.

The results of this test is that we improved 58-GN. by at least 70% if we consider the full Diamond mounting as a 100% cure. This scheme is extremely simple to carry out. It means no additional new parts it simply means leaving off the rear engine feet. We cannot foresee that there will be any disadvantage in this.

So far we have confirmed this result on two cars. We are arranging to carry out the same modification to Mr. Davies's car and we hope to have the result of the test tomorrow. You will appreciate that if the results confirm the improvement this will be an exceedingly simple modification to carry out on left-hand cars.

If we can carry out our programme we hope to bring to Bignall's Corner 25-EX. with the W.W. design of Diamond mounting; 58-GN. without the rear engine feet fitted, and Mr. Davies's car with a similar arrangement.
