Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/LMW. 6144 BY/RD.3/B.19.5.38. 26.G.VI STRIP REPORT OF ELECTRICAL UNITS. 21,000 MILES. The various points raised in this report were examined by BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs} and BY/RD, and are as follows :- Dynamo Bearings. Wear. These have been the OOO fit, and we already have on test, bearings with a closer fit, i.e. OO. In view of the continual "noise from bearings" complaint, the makers are to be consulted and alternative lubrication is to be tested, i.e. grease instead of oil. Fuses. (Distribution Board). Fuse clips in Spring Steel instead of Phosphor Bronze have been obtained for test, and these exert considerably more pressure and would prevent any possibility of the fuse climbing. Prices for these clips, copper plated, are to be obtained. Stop Lamp Switch. The hole in one of the contacts is thought to be due to burning. On the other hand, this switch is the standard model and has been on production for years without complaint. It had not failed and was likely to continue to operate for some time. A wider contact was proposed to increase the life, if burning should take place. Instrument Group. The 3 1/2 volt bulbs are to be tried, wired in parallel instead -Contd- | ||
