X.4308. A.T. SPEEDOMETERS.

We have seen a copy of PN{Mr Northey}3/WT28.1.30 addressed to you and requesting data. We have, as you know, made a number of tests upon these instruments for experimental etc. cars and given recommendations regarding speedometers on production.

I have therefore, put down a few notes (sent in duplicate) which I suggest you should pass on to Mr.Northey for his information. I have noted with satisfaction that he disapproves of the tendency to arrange for these instruments to read high, it having been understood that to do so was a Sales move. A copy of my EFC1/AD6.12.29, in which the correct aspect of the speedometer problem is outlined, might also be sent to him.
