R.E. 498A (20H) (D.A. 652 20-3-24) J.H.D. -2- Expl. No. 9940 9941 REF: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/LG26.6.24. EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. In the instructions being got out for 4-wheel brakes we are recommending that drivers should always practise re-leasing the brakes when actually turning a corner. We are finding that servos, on the average, are giving consistently a bigger output than the first one we measured. We therefore recommend reducing the amount of front braking by altering the lever on the/equaliser from 2.8 to 2.4. This will ensure that with the new value for the servo we shall not get more than 4 to 6 ratio on the front. We attach herewith chart which shews the proportion of braking with various values for the servo output. Both cars in France had complaints of low speed steering wobbles. Plain friction washers have been fitted to both pivots on each of the cars. The wobbles are brought up worse on the EAC.111 cars owing to the weaker springs in the side steering tube for reducing road shocks. With the standard springs in the side steering tube, the steering wobbles dis-appear but the road shocks felt on the steering wheel are increased considerably. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
