The unbalanced shutters we have already reported upon as being more steady than the evenly balanced shutters.

The oil drain on this axle is the old type and not to N.Sch. 3785. We have knocked the tube out of the back plate, to allow a better chance for the oil to get away.

B R A K E S.

In my report I have said that the BZ lining gave no better results, after being washed and tried first thing in the morning, than the MR.lining, but have good wearing qualities.

CRANKSHAFT PERIODS.

The period at 3,750 revs. has been cured by the crankshaft damper load being increased to 19 lbs. saturated with oil - not the works dry load.

We have noted the remarks of the of the chauffeur, and can quite believe his statement. What he has really done is to keep the heat down, while we came up against ourselves in the London traffic. We will try out the ventilating scheme.

We have received the valve springs sent out, and fitted new ones to Nos. 1, 2 and 8.

The radiator has arrived along with Bonnet, oil pump, fan etc.

We are having to hold up 21 G IV.
The unit pressure to the dampers has failed. Upon examining the control valve and its coating, they are the worst example I have seen. The seating of the valve which should be a taper seat is concave, the centre portion having been torn out. The seating looks as if it was straight from the drilling. We can not do anything with it. There was also fluff in the casing. We have thoroughly cleaned everything out, but the wisest course would be to send out a complete unit.

HEAD LAMPS.

The headlamp with the junction block inside made it impossible to reverse the dipping for the right hand side. We have had to take out the junction box and solder the wires together.
