608 To Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} c. to Ms. c. to RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GR.{George Ratcliffe}16/JH.6.1.38. WRAITH & 30 H.P. Floatchamber Vent Assembly Lec.3069. This assembly is still a very poor job and an expensive adoption for production. Previous attempts by production have only resulted in an alteration to the casting die at a prohibitive cost of £30. The following alteration to detail is suggested without the use of an adaptor or interference with the carburettor at these works, using the P.III assembly of vent pipe complete for both carburettors. (1) The existing vent hole boss on the floatchamber lid{A. J. Lidsey} can be drilled recessed and lapped .437" diameter IS.T.F.I.R.H. similar to the Phantom III at the Zenith Carburettor Co.Ltd (2) E.88273 Assembly of vent pipe complete (P.III) to replace present assembly and adaptor on the 30 H.P. (3) E.61032 Drain pipe to be increased in length approx.0.175" to suit height of existing boss. (4) E.85991 Banjo connection to replace E.61047 banjo. Will Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} please have these details inspected and if agreed upon, proceed with alterations on the necessary drawings, that they may be included in the specification of Wraith carburettors. The writer will then inform the Zenith Carburettor Co.Ltd., The two main objections to the present scheme are (1) cost of machining and making the adaptor (2) moving the makers name plate and plugging of rivet holes in the lid.{A.
