Dear Mr. Constantine,
Thank you for your letter of the 12th enclosing patent specification of the gear shaft lock designed by Leach.
From the drawings we see that like the Thompson lock, this type will cause rapid wear in the centre of the selector fork if the gear has a tendency to jump out. At the moment, therefore, we are more interested in the Buick scheme of relieving the over-run side of most of the engaging teeth.
