Distortion Test conducted on Ph.III. Rear Brake Carrier plates and Dust Excluder LOP.G.83556

One inner and outer carrier plate was assembled and bolted together with fulcrum distance piecesusing toggle shaft bearings and spring bracket as shewn on Ex.I.52.

This assembly was heated to 350°C. and allowed to cool. The dust excluder had then distorted .025" maximum on sections which are not supported by the carrier plate.

The assembly was again heated to 350°C. and quenched in water, the heating and quenching operation being repeated four times.

The dust excluder had then buckled on outer dia. of unsupported sections, maximum distortion .075" and .055" away from the carrier plate. For further figures see Ex.I.52.

No permanent set was found in the carrier plates.
