Vertical Play in Steering Swivels. We are having considerable difficulty in persuading our customers and agents that the vertical play in the steering pivots is necessary, and that it does not cause a disagreeable rattling noise from the front of the car. We have pointed out to them that we do not think the vertical play in the steering pivots is responsible for the rattling noise in question, and have also given them a list of items which may be causing this noise. They insist, however, that when steering pivots are fitted without vertical play the rattling noises cease, and we should be glad if you could give this matter attention. EP.{G.
