To Ha/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Copy to D/BF ALLAN WHITE Ha/CO4/FAW 22/6/33 From Commercial & Costing Dept, Sèvres Chassis I8 G IV- Experimental Car As requested by Chateauroux Depot we are to-day returning to you per Petite Vitesse through the General Transport C° the parts dismantled from above chassis. We attach hereto copy of our Pro Forma Invoice for these parts. There is, however, a point which is not quite clear to us; that is, the extract from a memo sent by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} to Chateauroux and which has been quoted to us by GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} when giving instructions for return of parts: "Return of Old Axle: As the duty on the parts sent out is £17.0.0 they have been covered by a temporary import-ation permit. Therefore the old parts should be returned to Derby. They can be sent as cheaply as possible; there is no urgency". As far as we know, the parts sent over with your man Bell paid duty into France, and there has never been any question of entering these parts under temporary admission; we have telephoned the General Transport C° and they confirm our views on this matter. Nevertheless, as you definitely request us to return these parts as per your memo D/BP/YIO/DH{D. Henderson - Showroom} 31.6.33 we have acted accordingly. Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/lwe [Signature] | ||
