+ 110 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Smth. 21/JH. 26th May, 1936. Messrs. Borg & Beck Co.Ltd., Tachbrook Road, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. For the attention of Mr. Barker. Dear Sirs, We wish to confirm yesterday's visit and our subsequent telephone conversation with Mr. Armitage in which we informed you that we are agreeable to cutting all the U-slots round the outer rivet holes on the 13¼" plate, and using all the inner rivets to fix both of the facings. We will advise you later regarding delivery requirements. We should like you to make us an experimental plate using the original design of riveting and thickness of facings. The internal dia. of the facings however, should be 8¼" with a rivet fixing both of them to the centre plate between each T-slot. The rivet head should be flush with the surface of the facings and clear of the present friction area. We still think we may ultimately want to use 12" Long type plates, similar to the one which we have running on one of our cars and which continues to give satisfaction, and would like you to get full manufacturing particulars of this plate so that you could produce it if necessary. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
