Dear Sirs, We beg to thank you for your letter of the 14th inst., with reference to the deletion of the vent pipe, and we agree with yourselves that no material difference would be noted in the behaviour of the gauge under normal conditions on your car. The vent pipe is intended as a safety factor on the gauge when abnormal conditions exist, such as the temporary generation of pressure in the tank during unnatural conditions at filling up, In the usual way, The King-Seeley Corporation, who have had a large experience over millions of cars fitted with their gauge, insist that the vent pipe shall go direct to atmosphere.
