CONTINUATION SHEET NO. 2. FROM SHELL-MEX AND B.P. LIMITED.

TO E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} W. Hives Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd. DATE 4.5.34.

There seems to be little or no difference between fuels with regard to temperatures recorded and with alcohol mixtures there is no appreciable cooling, due to higher latent heat, unless over 20% of alcohol is used.

I do not know what the heating effect on mixture is when high supercharger pressures are used, but expect you have investigated this.

If I can give any further details, I will be glad to do so and would say that, if you require exact details of the thermo-couple, Mr. R.Stansfield of the Anglo Persian Oil Co. Ltd., Research Station, Sunbury, Middlesex, will supply them, as he has been co-operating with me on the work.

Yours sincerely,

L.P. Coney
