CONTROL AND WATER TEMPERATURE. If thermostat operated shutters on the front of the radiator are definitely cancelled for Goshawk 11. we ought to consider other schemes for controlling the water temperature. We find that under conditions existing at the present time which is about freezing, unless the radiator is blanked off or muffed, the water temperature does not reach 50°C. We are certain, therefore, that the Goshawk Car, without some means of controlling the water temperature, will not be fit to run under U.S.A. winter conditions or in any other country with similar cold winters. We have had a bitter experience with the 40/50 H.P. cars and all 40/50 H.P. cars supplied in U.S.A. are fitted with shutters on the front of the radiator according to Mr. Royce's recommendations. We think it should be realized from the start that until the Goshawk has some means of controlling the water temperature, it cannot be considered a satisfactory proposition. We are certain that, if ever we send Goshawk cars to America, there will be a cry because there are no shutters fitted to the radiator. As all 40/50 H.P. cars are fitted with shutters on the front of the radiator, we cannot see that there could be any objection from appearance to the Goshawk being treated in the same way. If it is decided on the English cars we cannot fit shutters contd:- | ||
