Sidgreaves - MD}21/E27.1.32 Referring to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}1/MA.16.1.32 I have studied this with great interest and the writer is to be congratulated on the ~~way~~ result of his efforts. It certainly looks as if we might get very valuable and useful progress, improvements and economy as the result. The only suggestion put forward that we do not really agree with is the deletion of the battery ignition contact points and rocker arm for both models. We think it would be wrong to leave the owner without these spares as they are frequently used. If it ~~is~~ decided to delete the cross steering tube spanner because the adjustment should not be made by a driver or owner, it will of course be necessary to delete from the Instruction Book the very careful instructions which are given as to how this job should be done. I discussed this memo. with E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} when he was here yesterday and I understand that this question of tools and unnecessary variety of spanners will now be studied and dealt with so that we can get away from such extravagant absurdities as 4 different sized drain filler plugs on axle, gearbox and engine. I should be glad if BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} would say with what series he suggests the immediate economies should start. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} | ||
