X3720 To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from EFC1 c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} c. to By/Mr. Robinson. EFC1/T24.1.21. X.3945. - BRUSH SYSTEM -> DYNAMO. X.3526. X.3348. - BRUSH SYSTEM - MOTOR. X.3534. Perhaps you would kindly take up with Mr. Royce sometime just what models of armature windings, field coil windings and brushes he would require for inspection. (1) On the R.R. dynamo made from starter motor parts, there are two armature windings and one field winding. (2) Likewise on the Goshawk dynamo there are two armature windings and one field winding. (3) On the Goshawk motor there are two field windings and one armature winding. X.3886. X.3720. All the above are being experimentally instructed. (4) Regarding brush holders - those for the experimental U.S.A. starter motor and for the Goshawk dynamo and motor are similar in design to one another (though different in dimensions) and similar to the holder depicted on LeC.1193. For the R.R. dynamo made from starter motor parts there is at present instructed the standard type of brush holder as used on the starter motor, but we think perhaps Mr. Royce would like this also to be of the modified type to LeC.1193.
