1110 EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT. 5th December, 1940. Ra/MIR.S/ST.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Vandervell Products Ltd., Western Avenue, Acton, LONDON W. 3. Attention of Mr. G.A. Vandervell. Dear Sirs, We thank you for yours of the 21st ultimo and for the large clutch disc. At the moment we are using a fabric friction disc, as shown on drawing GB.4586, but we are interested in your material for experimental purposes, and we naturally wish to give it the best possible chance of success. Since you have nothing of a size suitable to our requirements, we suggest that we send you a driving plate and that you fit it up with your material. The spacing of the rivet holes may be altered, or more rivets added, as you require. If the job has to be done as you suggested by cutting up a large disc into segments, we suggest that 4 segments of 90° each should be used, and that the rivet spacing for each segment should be one at 6°, one at 45° and a third at 84°. The segment should be chamfered at the ends, which could be mitred. We are taking the liberty of sending a driving plate and some rivets, under separate cover. Yours faithfully, | ||
