Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/WTL/HR.16.1.35. re PETROL CONSUMPTION. 25 HP. ----------------------- We are rather concerned with the difference in the petrol consumption of the new carburetter as compared with that of the previous type. We have a customer who is returning his car to us with a complaint that his petrol bill has been increased 50% since we fitted the new type carburetter to his car. We have now been able to carry out tests of our own and, although we admit they are not an ideal way of taking a consumption test, they at least give us a comparison between the two carburetters. The results of our tests have been as follows:- Before carrying out the change-over. (With old type carburetter fitted):- 1 quart of petrol, level road, speed 30/35 m.p.h...........5 miles or 20 m.p.g. After fitting new type carburetter:- 1 quart of petrol, same road, same speed................3.9 miles or 15.6 m.p.g. We should be pleased to have your comments as the owner referred to wishes us to re-fit his old carburetter or give him as good a petrol consumption. Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/WT. | ||
