Vs{J. Vickers}/EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. Hv. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}S/ML.24.10.40. With reference to Vs{J. Vickers}/EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}2/CB. 18.10.40. In view of the somewhat difficult attitude of the Admiralty towards alterations to the pedestal mounting, I have sent the attached letter to Admiral Whyham. At the same time, we cannot let the gun suffer for the deficiencies of the mounting and I am therefore getting Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH to alter the drawings so that the washers are deleted, and the limits on the trunnion and mounting such that a satisfactory amount of end play will always be present. These drawings will then be handed to the L.M. & S. and by this time I should think that Admiral Whyham will have told them to get on with the job. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
