As a result of these blows, the bumper, to be approved, should still remain attached to the frame, and the front crossmember intact and the horns should not be spread or closed more than 1/2".

9. Trunk Rack.

A-14314 Argt. of Trunk Rack.
A-14316/7 Bracket and Cap.
A-14316AS Bracket and Cap Forging.
A-14318/9 Trunk Rack Hinge Members.
A-14318AS Trunk Rack Hinge Members Forging.
A-14315 Spacer.
A-14320 Hinge Pin.

The details of the rear crossmember on which these fit will be found in section 2 above under rear bumper.

We have had a case of failure of the bolt locating the brackets - K-7429 - through fatigue in bending - obviously due to slack fits - to cure this trouble we have got out a bolt A-14978 replacing this bolt and ferrule A-14315.

The locations of the brackets on the crossmember is controlled to a certain extent by the standard trunk which is carried.

10. Gasolene Tank.
SS{S. Smith} and General Arrgt. A-14591 with a complete set of details.

The filler cap is sealed and tank is vented in the center, so that corners can be rounded at high speeds without spilling gas.

The vent for K.S. Gauge is also carried in the same main vent.

Location of side filler as arranged is just right to clear Fenders and should not project any further from the tank.

A reserve tap is provided so that with handle normally down there is always 3 gallons left in the tank. Tap can be put on reserve by raising handle up when these 3 gallons can be used but as arranged handle when "up" interferes with filler cap, and cap cannot be opened till the handle is turned down or back to "main" supply.

Location on frame is shown in C'builders Arrgt. A-14892 (Sec. 2 Bumpers) K.S. Gauge fitting under "Instruments" (Sec. 6).

The arrangement of baffles to prevent spilling at the vent are shown in A-14132.
