RE CHARGING P.D's of EXIDE BATTERIES. X46428

We would like you to write to The Chloride
Electrical Storage Co. to enquire if they are doing anything
with a view to reducing the charging terminal potential
differences of the two standard batteries which they supply
to us. As you may know, Messrs. Peto & Radford are working
on this matter and according to their latest reports they
are succeeding in reducing this quantity, but as a matter of
fact - and as confirmed by our most recent observations -
the present standard P & R's are both higher than the present
standard Exides, and the amount by which they are reducing
them would bring it down approximately to the figure for the
Exides, so that in reality we cannot so far as we know at
present expect very much smaller figures for this quantity
in the case of the Exide batteries. Still, to be in line
with what the other people are doing, we think there would be
no harm in enquiring as to whether they consider they have
reduced this quantity to the minimum obtainable.
