Mr. Toghill,
The Midland Cylinder Co.,
Birmid Works,
Smethwick.

Dear Sir,

Further to our conversation at the Show regarding your new camshaft material which you call Monichrome, we should like the opportunity of trying this material in the form of bottom tappets for one of our experimental engines.

We enclose the drawing of the required article and propose that you supply us with say, a dozen casting blanks which we can machine to our detail drawing.

A useful comparison for our trial would be to supply six with a hardened face and six unhardened.

We are interested to know what the cost figure would be and also as to when you would be able to supply these parts.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
