London.

1st. September 1930.

For the attention of Mr. Ward.

Dear Sirs,

Further to my visit to your works last Monday, Aug. 30th., to discuss the weight analysis of one of your bodies, I have submitted your suggestions to Mr. Robotham, and he is satisfied that using the existing weight analysis as a basis on which to work, we will get satisfactory results.

It remains therefore, to arrange the grouping of the different sections for photographing, so that we get the maximum amount of information; and to ensure that the typewritten sheets correspond in arrangement to the photographs. Any further weights which we still need, can of course be got when the sections are being grouped.

The value of this form of weight analysis is of course to get lighter bodies, and this first photographic analysis will be a pattern on which we can base any future work. In this way, when a new body such as Mr. Lappin's, is introduced we can get an accurate comparison with other types.

Thanking you for your kind attention last Monday.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
