Messrs. Adamant Engineering Co.Ltd.,

Luton.

For the attention of Commdr. Matravers.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 12th instant, referring to the eccentricity of rollers.

The limit of 0.0025 may be adequate with an overhung rockshaft, but in the case of our gear, which has straddle mounting of the shaft and is consequently more rigid, it is certain that we cannot stand an eccentricity of more than 0.0010.

In view of this we wish to know whether you will agree to this being specified on the drawing and whether you can guarantee to keep within the limit.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
