Proposal to conduct experiments on extra cylinder lubrication using a modified 20/25 Unit running on five cylinders.

We wish to carry out experiments on Extra Cylinder lubrication when the engine is cold. To do this we propose using the 20/25 Unit which until recently was used for the Bearing Rig, and the following modifications will be required :- (1) No. 6 Connecting Rod we wish to have modified to attached print B.V.28. (2) The crown of No. 6 Piston should be completely machined away. (3) We shall run the engine on five cylinders only and will require the Cylinder Head for No. 6 Cylinder cutting away from the rest of the Head and the water passages etc. on both the Head and Cylinder Block blanking off.
