SECRET. X5390 To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Whr.{Mr Wheeler} Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/24.4.30. X5390 REVISED WINGSTAYS, CROSSMEMBER & LAMP BRACKETS 20/25 HP. X5380 X5800 We send herewith N. Sch. 3089m shewing the revised wing stays, lamp brackets, and front crossmember for the 20/25 HP. The wingstays are of the same gauge metal as those of P.2. and of almost the same section. We have shewn the diameter of the crossmember increased from 1.125" to 1.500" and this we have done without altering the frame drilling, so that the scheme may be applied to a car already partly erected. In future you may like to spread the bolts a little. The lamp standards are similar to those for P.2. and should be made to take either R.B.160.S. or P.80 lamps. The wiring we would be glad if Derby would set out on the lines of that already instructed for P.2. Since so many cars nowadays have either a centre lamp, double bulb lamps or bifocal dippers or even a fog lamp on the front horn, we suggest that it would facilitate the wiring at coachbuilders and produce a much better result at a greatly reduced cost if there were an extra wire at each side coming up to the junction box in the frame, from which connection to the extra lamps could be easily made. We believe that the Export Dept. wish this scheme of lamp brackets to be fitted to the three North American Propaganda Chassis GLR-27, GLR-29 & GLR31. You will no doubt wish to take the matter up with Whr.{Mr Wheeler} Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
