To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} 20 HP. WITH INCREASED CAPACITY. Since the original 20 HP. was evolved we have dropped the gear ratio by 13% by axle and wheels. We are now proposing to increase the capacity 17½%. The total alteration to the volume of the radiator on the car however is only increased about 7%. It would therefore appear that one of our first difficulties will [handwritten] would be to deal with the increased displacement per ton mile of 30% as the original 20 HP. was not free from over-heating complaints. The obvious moves we can make are :- (1) Use the 6/7 mm. tubes on the India 4. radiator. (2) Provide the 20 HP. with a fan on the same lines as the 40/50 HP. It would appear that we ought to be testing out these two devices in conjunction with the larger bore ratio. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
