Dear Sirs,

RE SAMPLE BODIES FOR BENTLEY "B".

This is to confirm the remarks made by the writer during his visit yesterday in connection with the sample bodies which we are proposing to ask you to build for the Bentley "B".
We wish you to build two bodies, a Four Door, Four Light Sports Saloon & a Two Door Four Seater Drop head Coupe.
Yesterday we handed to you the design of the saloon body and sufficient information to enable you to complete the full size drawing.
The design of the coupe will be sent to you early next week, together with its specification. We left with you the specification of the saloon.
Work on the full size drawing of the saloon should be put in hand and an estimate sent to Mr. Honeyman.
As soon as the full size drawing is moderately complete and you are in any difficulties in connection with the information concerning the chassis, the writer will visit your works if you will kindly inform him.
The dates of delivery should be worked to as far as possible but no overtime should be worked without first consulting us.
As the result of your latest information which shows the Alvin body to weigh about 8 1/2 cwt. we are now forced to say that the construction of our body will have to be considerably lightened as compared with it as the weight of the total Bentley coachwork must not exceed 7 1/2 cwt.
We know that this weight is not impossible as we have a body built to the same design weighing only this amount, and to assist you we will arrange for you to see this body at Lillie Hall one day towards the end of next week. Particular notice should be taken of the concealed hinges.
We are fortunate in being able to supply you with a dummy chassis in wood and several jigs, including those for forming the sheet metal wheel arches.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
