BEARING ALLOYS.

We propose to use the old piston unit for preliminary tests on the new bearing alloys. Will you therefore please fit the bearings as they become available, to this unit.

REAR AXLES.

Smith, whom you will remember is the Works Manager at Dagenham, seemed rather pleased with the simplicity and strength of the Ford V.8 rear axle, and offered to lend us one to have a look at. The axle is now here. Will you please strip it and let us know whether there are any points which you think would be of value to us in our own axle design. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} would also like to have a look at the pieces. You will appreciate that the axle is only on loan.

The Ford engine is exactly the same displacement as the 20/25 and gives slightly more power.

Tappet Noise on the Bentley.

We are going to recommend plain bonnets for Bentley customers who complain of tappet noise. Will you therefore please produce a bonnet to DI/CS.4/EH.9.5.35, for chassis 6-B-IV which you are at present preparing for the Coachbuilders.

ADAMANT Co. MARLES STEERING FOR THE 20/25.

The interest in this steering has now disappeared. Will you therefore please cancel the instructions given in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}20/KW.15.2.35.
