On the last batch of Phantom 1 cars which had rubber engine feet at the rear, the stiffness of the frame was not very much different to Phantom 2 with Diamond engine mounting. On these cars, as on Phantom 2 with Diamond engine mounting, the engine did not add any stiffness to the frame.

The Phantom 1 car, however, having a separate gearbox the first cross member was slightly in front of the present position on phantom 2 . All Phantom 1 cars were run without subframes.

In our opinion, the risk of producing Phantom2 cars without subframes is very small, but there is only one way to prove it and that is to produce some cars and have them running about.
