ROBOTHAM ESQ. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Nightingale Road, DERBY. Dear Sir, We are in receipt of your letter of the 14th, and would first of all express our thanks to you for the opportunity of further considering our charges in relation to orders received from the Experimental Department. As the writer explained to you, it is our desire always to have available suitable men and materials to carry out your instructions at the shortest notice, and to give the required standard of workmanship at prices acceptable to you. Also, our long and pleasant association with your Company adds a sentimental reason to our efforts. We would, however, respectfully suggest that in comparing the two jobs (as undertaken by us and our competitors) due allowance should be made for the fact that the bodies were of entirely different type and construction, and that one entailed considerably more work than the other. We have enclosed a copy of the details as carried out by us, and have underlined in red items which our experience leads us to believe would be in excess of the work of mounting, such as would be required on the body mounted by our competitors. A conservative estimate of the value of this extra work would be £13 to £15. - cont'd - Customers' Cars are only driven by our Staff at Customers' own risk and responsibility. Cars sent to us for repairs or any other purposes are held by us only at Owners' risk, and we accept no liability whatever for loss or damage thereto from fire or any other causes.
