We are still not prepared to say definitely that tungsten points are better than platinum though we are of the opinion that they are at least equally good and would therefore be prepared for standardisation of this item on the score of less expense.

Now that you have returned to W.W. you may have had an opportunity of examining various sample contact points which were sent to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} following our report EFC1/T24.12.26, as the varying condition of these points gives a good idea of the difficulty of a satisfactory solution of this problem, arising from the elusive nature of the evidence.

Since writing the above, we have received your R3/M3.5.27. We note that you say your Phantom did 10,000 miles without any ignition trouble, and without contact points being done up. We know from Mr. Dodd that the contact points have not been touched, and from the speedometer readings which he has given us we know that the ~~speedometer~~ contact points have done about 10,800 miles.

As in the case of 10-G3, for France, it was carefully noted that the points had a good start in good condition, alignment and bedding.

With reference to your last paragraph concerning the 20 HP. car at present in France, at my request the report Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rml/LG6.5.27 has been sent to you, from which you will note that the failure of the ignition was not electrical. It is
