COPY OF WRITTEN NOTE. X7250 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Sunday the 9th. Dec. 1928. Further to my letter of last night, DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} and I worked at the radiator support this morning, and came to the conclusion that for immediate application we could increase the stud to 5/16. Watch that the clearances are all right and use a rubber washer on the bottom instead of the steel spring. <---1 1/2---> < 1/2 > < 3/4 V This is the washer which will be the longest thing to get. I think, if the distance piece did not allow the radiator to lift more than 1/16 the stud would not have broken. The job is not coarse enough and we are altering it tomorrow to a bigger size. There does not seem much the matter with the scheme. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
