TESTS REQUIRED ON BENSPORT.

(1) Remove pistons and con. rods after 4,000 miles further running (if no increase in crankcase pressure evident before), and examine gudgeon pin retaining pads for failure.

(2) Observe oil temperature (recording air temp. at same time).
(1) Normal.
(2) Rad. shutters jammed open.
(3) Rad. shutters normal, asbestos mud plastered over the front of the timing case.

(3) Vary tyre pressures and find the best reading for steering and road holding.

*
(4) Watch for signs of rattles in the transmission on the over-run. We also think that there may be indications of failure in the axle towards the completion of 10,000 miles.
